My bff Katie

For the past year, my best friend Katie lived across the country. This fall, we are both back in Nashville. The first time I got to see her, it was such a mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual breath of fresh air. I felt part of my emptiness being filled by having a Christ-like friend. She reminds me of my purpose in life and how “it isn’t about what you do, but how you are doing it do it”.

Here is one of the favorite Katie quotes I tell myself more times than not:

“If you're going to be nervous or stressed in the moment, don’t feel that way before it happens, then you have to live through it twice. Nobody wants to do that.”

She tells me how it is, but in a way that parallels scripture. She is a friend who notices my struggles but chooses acceptance and patience. I don’t have to worry about abandonment or condemnation or if she is going to answer my next phone call. It is a friendship with no record of wrongs and open for confession.

I hope I can be a friend to others the way Katie has always been a friend to me!
